Black Interlock Cedar Shingle aluminum roof on a two-storey modern home with dormers in a forested, Delta, British Columbia
Black Cedar ShingleDelta, BCSee more roofs ↗

Built for British Columbia

More than 25,000 km of coastline. A roof that cannot rust.

BC is a coastline, a rainforest, a snow belt and a fire zone, sometimes on the same drive. Here is what an Interlock® aluminum roof does about each.

Salt air

Aluminum cannot rust

There is no iron in aluminum, so there is nothing to rust. It forms its own thin oxide layer, which re-forms if the surface is scratched. That is why it is the metal for oceanfront homes, island cabins and anywhere the wind carries salt.

Wildfire

Class A Fire Rated Available, as a complete assembly

Under ASTM E108 a fire classification belongs to an assembly, not a panel. On our roofs Class A is achieved with two layers of GAF VersaShield® over 12 mm (15/32-inch) plywood, and the aluminum itself does not ignite. Ask us to quote the assembly if your home backs onto forest or grassland.

Reflectance

Reflectance, rated colour by colour

Most Alunar® colours are rated by the Cool Roof Rating Council (CRRC), which publishes each colour's solar reflectance (0.25 to 0.44 when new) and thermal emittance (0.83 to 0.86). Lighter and metallic colours reflect more. The Alunar® finish is warranted for 30 years.

Energy

Colour and summer heat

Lighter colours absorb less summer sun than dark ones. What that saves depends on climate, colour, insulation and attic ventilation, so we don't quote a figure.

Solar

The roof to put solar on

A solar array lasts 25 to 30 years. Put it on an asphalt roof and the panels often have to come off and go back on when the roof wears out underneath them. On an Interlock roof they come off at the end of their own life, not the roof's. Standing Seam takes clamp mounts with no holes drilled; the other profiles use mounting hardware made for metal roofing. At roughly 2 to 3.5 kg per square metre the roof leaves more of the structure's capacity for the array, and your solar installer confirms the framing.

Wind

Locked on four sides

Interlock panels lock to each other on all four sides, with no exposed fastener for a storm to work at. Wind resistance is warranted to 193 km/h (120 mph) installed to manufacturer specification.

What matters where you live

Months of rain, moss, character homes, strata councils and more homes going solar every year.

Rain and moss

Nothing in an aluminum panel for moss to root in or water to rot. Cedar softens and asphalt granules trap the debris moss grows in.

Character homes and strata

The look of cedar shake or slate on an older house, at a fraction of the weight, and paperwork strata councils can approve.

Solar on a roof that outlasts it

Put the panels up once. The roof under them outlives the array.

Where we've worked

Surrey roofing: 310 roofs installed. Here's where.

We install the Interlock® aluminum roofing system on homes south of the Fraser: Surrey, Delta, Tsawwassen, Ladner, Langley, Aldergrove and White Rock. The panels are made in Canada at the Interlock plant in Delta, a few minutes from most of the homes on this page.

Completed Interlock® roofs by community, from our job book. Every other part of BC has its own local site: same company, same crews, same warranty.

These are the regions we currently serve. Not sure which one your address falls in? Ask us.

    Why metal, for Surrey roofing

What a Surrey winter does to a roof, and what interlocked aluminum does about it.

    Local

Made down the road, in Delta

Our office and the Interlock plant share one address: 9969 River Way in Delta. The roof on your house is made south of the Fraser and installed south of the Fraser by a Canadian owned and operated BC company.

    Rain & moss

    Months of wet, every winter

Cedar holds water and softens; asphalt granules trap the debris moss grows in. Aluminum absorbs nothing and cannot rot. Gutters and valleys still collect leaves, and we'll tell you what to clear and how often.

    Wind

Open ground and storms off the water

Tsawwassen, Ladner, White Rock and the farmland in between take storms with little in the way. Interlock panels lock on all four sides with the fasteners concealed, and wind resistance is warranted to 193 km/h (120 mph) installed to manufacturer specification.

    Acreages

House, garage and shop to match

On Langley and Aldergrove acreages the same profiles go on the house, a detached garage or a shop, so everything on the property can match and carry the same system, as long as each roof has at least a 3/12 slope.

    Recycled

    Up to 95% recycled aluminum

And the last tear-off your house is likely to need.

Do you do roof repairs or asphalt shingles in Surrey?

Are you a Surrey roofing company or a metal roofing company?

A Surrey roofing contractor, based in Delta, that installs one roofing system: the Interlock® aluminum roof, made in Canada in Delta. We replace asphalt, cedar and tile roofs on Surrey, Delta, Langley and White Rock homes with it. We don't install asphalt shingles, so if you're shopping for the lowest price on a roof you'll replace again, we're not the right call. If you want the last roof the house needs, we are.
